Nori Peter

Thumbnail

Recognized as one of Canada's foremost artists, Nori Peter devotes her time and talent to the depiction of native life – primarily the life of the Inuit of the Canadian Arctic. Her great insight into Inuit life and her keen sense of respect and admiration for these native Canadians is amply evidenced in her lovingly realized portrayals of these strong yet gentle people.

Nori Peter, who loves the outdoor life, frequently travels to Alaska and the Northwest Territories – trips which enable the artist to better understand and thus depict on canvas the unique way of Inuit life.

Her award winnig limited editions, greeting cards, limited edition collector's plates, glass and soapstone sculptures have been collected for decades.

Nori Peter studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Budapest where she developed her natural talent to the highest perfection. Emigrating to Canada in 1957, she now resides in an Ontario Indian reserve with her three huskies, eleven cats and two birds, where she devotes her time to her many artistic talents.

Nori Peter has had successful solo and group exhibitions throughout Canada including Yukon and the Northwest Territories and Austria.

Her works are found in major private and public collections throughout Canada, the United States, Europe and Japan, including the Holiday Inn Hotels, Abitibi-Price Pulp & Paper Corp. and Pittsburgh Glass Co.
